SCHUMACHER F1 RETURN On The Beeb

Schumacher makes shock F1 return
Michael Schumacher will make a shock return to Formula 1 to replace injured
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa.
The seven-time world champion retired at the end of 2006 but will drive at
the European Grand Prix on 23 August.
Ferrari said the 40-year-old will stand in for as long as Massa is
sidelined by the serious head injuries he sustained in the Hungarian Grand
Prix last week.
"For team loyalty reasons I can't ignore this unfortunate situation," said
the former Ferrari driver.
His spokesman Sabine Kehm had told the BBC on Tuesday that although
Schumacher - who was working as an advisor for Ferrari - was not willing to
make a full-time return to F1, he would not rule out standing in for Massa.
And the German racing legend has now decided to come out of retirement and
make a sensational return to the sport. -

Ebay Twat
@ 28/07/2009 – 11:04:01 am
This is a message I received after giving neutral feedback and messaging
why the feedback was so.
Dear Palmblogging ( not my Ebay name)
Are you always so misrable when you get a bargin if so get a life
-huggybear1993 ( his real Ebay name)
Now if you got something that was not totally as described but not that bad
to return you'd not give positive feedback but neutral. It seems to this
little twat that I have dared to give him less than he thought he deserved
so hence the tone of his message. Methinks I could take this further with
Ebay as this could get in to a slagging match if I take it that way. But I
won't just slag him of with messages as this appears to be a young un.
I have picked up stuff on Ebay no problem before except for a problem with
a Zire 31 I got that definately wasn't as described and resolved that. I
have also complaind to Ebay that someone selling a Psion Revo was using a
picture from here that I had posted so this wee prat is not a problem at
all.
The thing is I know he wouldn't dare say that to my face and would only do
it in message form. If he's going to sell on Ebay and not be as accurate as
he could be with descriptions then he won't get the positive feedback he
crazes.
Here endeth my rant and I do feel better. -

Wifi Now On Home Laptop

When we got broadband it was a wireless router. Now our lappy didn't have wifi so after a while I got a shot of the usb wifi dongle from work and set it up and iy worked. So just after dinner on Friday I went on Ebay and got one the same as works. It came yesterday morning less than 24 hours after buying.
Today it is plugged in and working a dream. It get rid of the network cable so lappy can go back to the table now. It also means as long as there is a power socket nearby it can be used anywhere in the house.
Next thing will have to be a new battery to allow it to be used anywhere. New battery on Ebay will be about £30 but will be well worth getting.
The Ebay shop for the wifi dongle was Gizmo-Deals. -

STV Need To Be Asked Questions About What They Are Deciding For Scottish Viewers.
@ 22/07/2009 – 12:32:01 pm
Caught this just now and it really pees me off.
STV to launch new casino channel
- by Andrew Laughlin, Technology Reporter on www.digitalspy.co.ukSTV has partnered with NetPlay TV to launch the first ever live interactive
casino channel on digital terrestrial television in Scotland. The move follows recent guidance issued by Ofcom to free up the rules
around public service broadcasting that enables viewers to place bets on
casino games.Under the new regulatory framework, STV will broadcast NetPlay's
interactive casino shows live every Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting
from August.Palmy's Thoughts
So STV decided not to show Lewis in Scotland. They are not going to show
The Bill. The reason supposedly is to show more Scottish content. But and
its a big But, they will do this on DTT. Will this be a new channel using
up limited space on Freeview or will more real programmes be dropped to
show this. To me its a bit of a disgrace that gambling is promoted this way
but for it to be by a PSB is beyond me. Yes there is a crisis that could
lead to ITV being in financial difficulty but Ofcom may have pushed it a
bit here. -

Good News For Fans Of "The Bill" In Scotland
@ 22/07/2009 – 12:56:02 am
Solution announced for Scottish 'Bill' fans
- by Daniel Kilkelly, Entertainment Reporter at Digital Spy
The Bill is to be repeated on ITV3 each week, providing Scottish viewers
with an opportunity to keep watching the programme, it has been announced.
Fans in Scotland feared that they would miss out on new episodes after STV
confirmed that it had decided to drop the long-running police drama earlier
this month.
The broadcaster's decision, in effect from this week, coincides with The
Bill's revamp as a post-watershed 9pm show, featuring "grittier" plots and
a shift to high definition filming.
ITV has now announced that repeats of The Bill are to have a regular Monday
11pm slot on ITV3 from next month. In the meantime, the first two new-look
episodes, which premiere on ITV1 this week, will be broadcast again on
Wednesday, July 29 between 11pm and 1am on the digital channel -
Just A Thought When I Heard The Following On Magic Radio Tonight. This May Offend, But I'm Posting It Anyway
@ 21/07/2009 – 10:30:02 pm
Consider the lyrics from this Bruce Springsteen song.
Lyrics to I'm On Fire
Hey little girl is your daddy home
Did he go away and leave you all alone
I got a bad desire
I'm on fire
Tell me now baby is he good to you
Can he do to you the things that I do
I can take you higher
I'm on fire
Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby
edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
through the middle of my soul
At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
and a freight train running through the
middle of my head
Only you can cool my desire
I'm on fire
Now consider it again if Gary Glitter decided to do a cover version. -

Set Up Outlook Express For Googlemail Last Night
@ 17/07/2009 – 11:00:01 am
So last night that's what I did. I setup both me and Debs emails to use
Outlook Express. It will mean we will actually use these accounts. As web
mail we seldom checked them so this will help. Debs gets a few newsletter
things from a couple of sights so she can get them read now.
The only problem is that last night when I sent a mail and picture here
last night the picture ended up in my media folder her but the email
content got rejected as some parser error of some sort. The compose bit in
Outlook Express is setup as html and not text so maybe changing to text
will sort that, who knows.

things for weekends as well so it was well worth picking up.
Tegan is really looking forward to day trips and picnics everyday. So
hopefully me and Debs will be able to give her that this year as to be
honest holidays have be more a case of me having time of work and Debs

Where's This Fifer Going On Holiday This Year? He's Going To Go To Fife.

I think living in Fife I forget what a lovely place it is to "visit" as a

to do spend a week on holiday exploring our home area. The East Neuk, St
Andrews, Falkland and the like. I used to work in Dunfermline and never
been there for years and even though I work everyday in Kirkcaldy it must
be over a decade since I was in any parks in the town. So this Fifer is

Phone Stuff: Sim Unlocked Nokia and Application Unlocking Of SPVs
@ 12/07/2009 – 10:34:02 am
Last night I got tucked in to a couple of techy phone things I felt I've
needed to do for a while.
I had a search on the net for unlocking tools for the Nokia 3510i I have
kicking about. Its a good staight forward texting and call phone. I have
Opera mini on it to enhance web use as well. This would do great just as a
spare phone incase any one needs it. It was locked to Orange which is ok
for half of us but the other half of the family are on O2 and couldn't use
it. So I found a UK site and was able to get an unlock code generated. I
put it in the phone and hey presto one unlocked Nokia.
The SPVs that me and Tegan have are ok being locked on Orange. In fact its
actually preferrable that way cause at Christmas the eldest lads phone
packed in and if Tegans one had been sim unlocked I have the feeling she
would have losted it to him completely. So I'm not going to sim unlock them
just now. The application lock though just had to go.
This is really annoying, the app lock thing. Fair enough a network locking
you to them but its a bit much when you are restricted on what you can have
downloaded to your phone. Yes they have their reasons but when you can't
have something like Google Maps it takes the piss.
So last night I signed up for MoCaDo forums and downloaded a registry edit
tool. The instructions on the site were really good and I was able to
change a couple of values in the registry and my C550 was app unlocked. I
downloaded TCPMP and it installed no problem when it wouldn't before. So I
went and did the same on Tegans C500. I still have to check the C500 with
downloading but I'm sure its ok as well. I will slip my sim in it later and
check it by downloading Google maps just to make sure.
So now the C550 has TCPMP as an app to watch video I think Tegan has her
eyes on it so I may end up with the C500 again. -

A Night At The Opera.
@ 10/07/2009 – 11:14:02 am
Last night I installed the Java environment for Palm on my 680 and Opera
mini browser. I have serious problems with Palm Desktop and hot sync but
was able to untilise a hack/patch that allows Java to be installed with ot
hot syncing.
So I put it all on my sd card moved it to the main handset memory, ran the
installer and it was there.
I had to go on the net with the PC to get a bit of info on setting JVM in
the prefs but once done it seems stable enough.
The reason for Opera is that I have it on the SPV C550 and thought I'd give
it a bash on the 680 after the failed attempt before.
So now Opera is running. The Palm version is quite a small app but the java
app is huuuuge.
I will have to see if there are any Java apps that I can use to justify
the space the environment takes up. -

Last Night I Was Busy.
@ 08/07/2009 – 11:10:01 am
Had tea then put up couple of hanging baskets I had at work.
Then put bath panel back on bath. Tegan then asked about me sorting her
bike. The one she uses came from a friend and has done her as her own one
was a bit heavy when she was smaller vut the friend that gave her it keeps
reminding her of the fact it "is hers" so Tegs wanted her one going.
So I started on it around 8.30.
First job was to sort the chain out. Since it had not been used and out in
all weather it was rusty and stiff. I got some oil out and WD40 stuff and
got that done. Next the brakes needed done as the cales had siezed a bit so
I spent quite a bit of time on that. I have got them going but they still
seem a bit stiff for Tegan.
The seat got adjusted as she has grown a lot since she got this bike at
christmas.
Lastly I eventually pumped up the tyres as we've had issue with bike pumps
in our house.
So its all roadworthy and ready to go.
Now remember I started at 8.30 and when I looked at the clock when I
finished it was after 11.00.
So tonight it will another bit of work on the brake cables I think. -

New USB Freeview recorder unveiled
by Andrew Laughlin at Digital Spy
Digital Vision has unveiled its new GiGo Digital Freeview Recorder, which
is billed as the first ever USB stick-based recorder to hit the market.
The product is a standard single tuner digital terrestrial receiver with
access to the EPG, but without an in-built hard drive.
Instead, the box has three USB ports on the front that enable owners to
record programmes in MPEG-2 format to any storage device that is plugged
in. This also means that users are able to record on one channel, while
viewing programmes previously saved on the USB sticks.
An hour of programming takes up around 2GB, with file names and synopsis
information being drawn from the EPG.
The GiGo can be used for playback or the files can be viewed on any other
device that is able to support MPEG-2 format, including handhelds.
Digital Vision head of retail sales Rob Musk told Pocket-Lint that the GiGo
offers a "simple and affordable approach".
He added: "We've connected a 500GB hard drive [to the device] with no
problems. You'll then be able to archive to your PC to watch on the move."
Musk also said that the company may introduce a future set-top-box that
offers MPEG-4 recording. -

@ 03/07/2009 – 04:38:01 pm
Yes, last year that is, 2008. The point of this you may ask? Well just been
looking at rain jackets hung up in the loos at work and came across a bag.
The bag had something in it. That something was a loaf of bread. The date
at the top of this post? You've got it that's the best before date on this
loaf. Bloody 9/12/2008.
Boy the mould have eaten half of it away. So its in the bin and so is the
bag too. -

They will be able to use all the stuff for the cancelled O2 gigs. Hell if
the heat keeps up here MJ will be in good condition to remake Thriller. -
