Man cleared over Girls Aloud blog
A former civil servant who wrote an internet article imagining the kidnap
and murder of the pop group Girls Aloud has been cleared of obscenity.
Darryn Walker, 35, from South Tyneside, was charged after his blog appeared
on a fantasy pornography site.
He appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Monday but was cleared when the
prosecution offered no evidence.
His defence argued that the piece was not easily accessible and could only
be found in a specific internet search.
Judge Esmond Faulks formally returned a not guilty verdict to the charge of
publishing an obscene article.
Mr Walker's 12-page blog - Girls (Scream) Aloud - was brought to the
attention of police by the Internet Watch Foundation, an organisation for
the public and IT professionals which polices potentially obscene material.
He was arrested in February 2008 at his home in Mowbray Road, South
Shields, by officers from the Obscene Publications Unit.

And there's a bloody Orange March going on. So until it passes we well be
quiet as we are slap bang in the middle of it.
How Fife Council can condone and encourage this sectarian and bigoted
behaviour is beyond me.
One Scotland not in Fife it seems. The thing is we have an SNP controlled
council. We have an SNP Government. What does this mean to Alex Salmond
that members of his party seem to be allowing this.
I am not catholic but really object to this. If I am causing offense with
my view on this then if you feel offended have a look at your own
viewpoint. If I wanted to organise a march celebrating a christian victory
in the Crusades against an Islamic army then quite rightly I would be
denied that right. If I wanted to protest against any orther religion or
race I would face sanction.
How can Fife Council and the SNP Government allow this to go on?
