Teal OS is away folks. At 5.00pm PDT yesterday its sale stopped. But
knowing how things are on the internet I bet there are still places you can
get it. It has a 30 day trial but sometimes if you delete the relevant file
that can reset. Everytime I installed a new version of this before it would
reset as well. So for those that never bought it there is still hope you
can use it over the 30 day trial.

That Was Strange!!!
@ 30/03/2009 – 09:58:02 pm
I was just shaving there as I have to do begrudgingly once or twice a week
and had a fine chin of stubble. I did cheeks and chin, then that bit that's
not quite chin but not quote throat. I was left with the bit btween nose
and top lip. I then had a sudden and strange thought. Should I leave ot and
grow a tache.
The big question being would it be like Magnum PI or Poirot?
The thought passed and I finished shaving.

Bad News For Teal OS
@ 27/03/2009 – 08:54:01 pm
Teal OS is no more
[Sent to Palm Addicts From Hans via Palminfocenter] It seems that TealOS is
no more which is a great, great shame. This was posted on their technical
forums. "Hi folks. I'm sorry to say that at Palm's request, as of this
upcoming Monday, March 30, we will no longer be selling or distributing
TealOS.
We really appreciate the help and unprecedented enthusiasm so many of you
have shown for this product. It's been a long time since we experienced
this kind of customer cooperation, and the program's success came at a
badly needed time. We wish we could continue contributing to this great
community.
For those of you who have already purchased the product, your copies will
continue to function, of course, but we encourage you to download the
latest beta copies to insure you have a stable version you are happy with
and back it up to a safe place, as you'll no longer be able to download it
after Monday. We'll continue through the weekend to try to get as many bug
fixes and requested improvements in as we can before then.
Thanks, -tex "

Today is the first day of spring!!!
1. To celebrate the first day of spring, an ice cream parlour in Amercia
are giving away free ice cream all day Friday. What is your favourite
flavour ice cream?
Has to be Rum and Raisin
2. Today is officially the first day of spring in the UK. When you think of
spring, what is it that comes to your mind first?
Moving on thousands of bedding plants and more watering as it gets warmer
3. Do you wish that daffodils, snowdrops and other spring flowers would
flower all year round?
No as you wouldn't have the excitement of seeing the first snowdrops of the
year.
4. Have you got your garden looking all spring like yet?
Still early enough for that but a great time to clean up and get prepared
for the season ahead
5. What will you do today to feel all spring like (keep it clean you smut
monsters out there!!)??
I'll be moving on seedlings at work all day and probably for the next
month.

Email Stuff
@ 20/03/2009 – 09:36:01 am
I've had to do a little housekeeping in regards to my email account with
orange. I use Snappermail on my 680 and when you get over 650 emails in yhe
inbox on the server Snappermail plays up a bit.
So last night I cleared and deleted from the server around 100 emails that
were on my 680 so this bug didn't happen. That was still leaving 500 odd on
the server though and that needed sorted.
As I said I use Snappermail but the 680 has an inbuilt email app as well. I
used this and set up a couple of filters to download any Freecycle and blog
emails to that app and then deleted them. Again this removed another 200 or
so from the server. Finally I downloaded without filters and had the 300 or
so remaining emails on my 680 from the server. These I am manually going
through and deleting as nescessary and just now I only have 220 on the
server.
Now my email app I prefer, Snapper, is a lot snappier in handling my mail.
I will have to try and remember when I delete on the app to also check the
box to delete from server.

Was having a look at them on the stats page and was kinda shocked at some
of them when I Googled myself.
Orange and Vat - Palmblogging came up in the top 5 search.
Sick Jade Goody Jokes - I came up top and the post was saying that I
wouldn't take part in them and the some more personal stuff. I have editted
this as a friends only post straight away.
Teal OS - I pop up very high and it just been in the past week that the

I was amazed that this little blog has gotten so high in searchs. Hell even

A Bit About Me For Newish Friends
@ 18/03/2009 – 10:26:02 am
I'm David and I'm a Palm Addict. I started Palmblogging in December 2006 as
an experiment to see if I could run a blog with my then Treo 600 phone. I
am now on a Treo 680 but Palmblogging still comes to you via this. I have
seldom used a PC to blog or comment. The only time I do is after I have
tried everyway I can with the Treo and failed.
But if you look you see the archive only goes back to January this year.
This is because in a few weeks of family turmoil I deleted the old blog and
was unsure about continuing blogging. These things have passed and my home
life is on a more even keel now.
I am father to 3 aged 7, 12 and 14 and "step dad" to 3 aged 16, 19 and 21.
Yes a few years ago we had 6 kids in the house at weekends. The 12 and 14
years one are by my marrage and stay with their mum and we get the
weekends. I have been with my partner Debbie for over 9 years now and we
are very much together just now.
I work in mental health at a training center delivering Horticultural
training. All aspects of gardening at that. Plant production, garden
maintenence and landscaping. I love the work I do but at times it is really
challenging but rewarding. I loved gardening as a hobby and am lucky to be
in a job that I get paid for something I enjoy.
So that a wee bit to fill you in on me Palmblogging. -
Teal OS annd Other Palmy Stuff
@ 18/03/2009 – 09:54:01 am
Was not updated yesterday and today so far. I was having a play with it on
my 680 last night and I am just about set to have it as my full-time
launcher. I still use LauncherX but have Teal set up to my liking now and
will have to buy it to get the registration code. I feel this is worthy of
purchase and will be my first PalmOS software buy in a good while.
I tend to use a lot of freeware and demo versions and put up with nag
screens where possible as money for Palm stuff is tight but it shows how
many good apps are out there for little or no money. I am a bit jealous of
iPhone users and the much cheapness they can get apps for but as PalmOS
bids us farewell there may be more free apps as abandonware. I hope the
developer do that once Web OS is here and there is a lessening in demand
for PalmOS stuff.
I'm just a cheapskate I suppose. -

What An Afternoon, I Hope You Really Enjoyed It.
@ 14/03/2009 – 02:50:01 pm
I knew you'd enjoy it, you always do. The way my expirienced hands caress
you and bring you up to that peak.
I put the oil in a sprayer that way we give you better coverage and allows
it to soak into you.
You were on all fours as I started on your back. Severval spurts of oil all
over then lovingly smooth in covering you completely and extra attention to
those little cracks and crevises you have.
More oil and rubbed in to those long elegant legs you have. Total coverage
and contact from feet to the very top were they join.
Your smooth but comfortable sitting area got extra attention as we need to
get maximum pleasure here.
That done I then concentrated on you back for a while. Long but firm stokes
ensure you achieve maximum moistness and then I turn you over for your
front.
Loads of oil here as this is the bit that can be on show. The cloth I'm
using to smooth things helps to get right in to those places I sometimes
have difficulty getting in to at times. The lubrication of the oil also
eases maximum penetration.
I finish now as my fluid is spent and look at you basking in the sunlight
and absolutely glowing after that. You look like the chestnut beauty you
are. Satisfied I like a cigarette and prepare to leave you thinking.
Thank fuck that's the patio furniture teak oiled for another year. -

A Wee Review os Teal OS Courtesy of Palm Addicts
@ 14/03/2009 – 01:04:01 pm
TealOS looking better than WebOS!
With the latest Beta release of TealOS I must say this launcher interface is starting to take shape in a good way! The current release is Beta 1.31. Wow! Just last night I was playing with Beta 1.29 and the developers are updating and fixing things faster than I can report them! :), a rarity for Palm applications these days. For those of you who haven't tried this launcher it is a must have tool for us Palm OS users and keeps our devices looking current and hip by imitating the Palm Pre WebOS. Tealpoint has even added things to their launcher to make it even better in some ways than WebOS. The "Card Wave" mode from the wave launcher works like a charm and is yet another great way to switch between applications and mimic multitasking on the Palm OS. Give it a try! Keep up the great work Tealpoint!

Slopping Out Costs Millions
@ 11/03/2009 – 04:38:01 pm
This is from the BBC and kind of follows on from the " bed and board" compensation stories
Millions of pounds of compensation being paid to criminals under human rights laws is "unacceptable", Scotland's justice minister has said.
So far £11m has been paid to more than 3,700 prisoners after a judge ruled their human rights had been breached by slopping out their prison cell toilets.
In England and Wales there is a one-year time bar for such claims.
Kenny MacAskill wants the UK government to legislate to bring Scotland into line with the rest of the country.
A House of Lords ruling in October 2007 said claims in Scotland could date back to 2001, when human rights laws became operational.
Prison cells
The anomaly has arisen because of the wording of the Scotland Act which established devolution - and included human rights provisions.
Only Westminster can change this and Scottish ministers have been urging their colleagues in London to act quickly.
Mr MacAskill told parliament £67m had been set aside for payouts to this year.
e described the situation as "untenable and unacceptable" and said changing the law would free £50m for spending on other government priorities.
Slopping out was the practice of using buckets as toilets in prison cells.
Although it has now ended, claims continue to be made, dating back up to eight years.
Mr MacAskill said 3,737 cases had been settled at a cost of £11.2m.
A further 1,223 were being dealt with - an average of 200 new claims per month.
Its costing a lot to keep letting them pee in buckets. -

This from Palm Addicts is along the lines of what I want to do with my Zire
71 or a eBay buy at much cheapness.
Palm Zire 72 2009 Refresh
[From Jason Brown (Toronto)] Hi : I'd like to talk about how my aging Palm
72 has been totally refreshed at a price of about $100. I have no shame to
pull it out amongst iPhone users.
The first update is the new-ish SDHC driver from Palm PowerUps, which cost
about $20 and allows you to use huge SD cards. I got a 16GB card for $55.
The second update is the TealOS from TealPoint, which finally gives you a
practical UI, about $20.
I LOVE TealOS! Finally I don't have to keep opening and reopening Palm
apps.... I could never remember which apps I had last used. TealOS makes
the Palm extremely practical for keeping track of bits of data since you
can now call up a contact name, a calendar page, etc. and keep those bits
of information visible on the TealOS desktop. It's nothing short of a
revolution.
My Zire 72 is now stocked with an assortment of full-length films (in DivX
format) plus tonnes of music, and huge website pulldowns courtesy of
Plucker.
It's very rare that a five year old piece of hardware can be refreshed in
both UI and storage capacity. I'm thrilled and pleased to have chosen Palm
in the first place.

Don't know if the high capacity thing for card works on the 71 but the rest
sounds great to me.

Caught this on Stattos sit The Lentil over at Blogger.
This is a photo from the 2009 US Presidential Inauguration, in which you
can see, in focus, the face of each individual in the crowd. You can pan
and zoom in, wait for the focu to come in and bingo, you can see clearly
individual faces out of a mass of thousands.
I'm told, the picture was taken with a robotic camera at 1,474 megapixels
(295 times a standard 5 MP camera.
Makes you wonder who's watching you right now..... See it here

Still trying this out and its upto version 1.14 on Mytreo.net. I like how
it does things and will up date the Zire71 with this latest version. I
still use Launcher X on the 680 as its just setp how I need things but
dabble with TealOS just now. Love the wave launcher its really handy and
even though Launcher X is my default launcher the wave thing comes up.

Discovery cuts Quest hours
Quest, the new digital terrestrial channel from Discovery, will air from
10am to midnight instead of 24 hours a day.
According to Broadcast, Discovery plans to sell the overnight airtime to a
third party such as a shopping channel. It acquired a 24 hour slot from
SDN, ITV's digital terrestrial multiplex unit, last October.
The channel - Discovery's first free-to-air service - will launch on May
14. -

Astronomy Stuff
@ 05/03/2009 – 11:42:01 pm
Two things tonight have made me decide that if its clear tomorrow night I
really have to go out and have a look at the sky.
Firstly I watched The Sky at Night on our PVR from the weekend past and
secondly I read Wowbaggers post in his astronomy blog.
It will be great to see Venus in crescent and Saturns rings side ways on
and there's a comment up there as well. So that's the plan tomorrow night. -
Zire 71 Stuff.
@ 05/03/2009 – 07:02:01 pm
Cleared out some seldom used software on the Zire 71 over the last few
nights. Some utilities and astronomy apps. They were freeware ones so no
need to keep copies and registration codes. Most of them were duplicates of
paid software and those apps did the job better.
I would like to set the 71 up for use with a phone but it would be with
infra-red only. By setup I mean what's on it as I know connection aint a
problem. The problem is that Tegan enjoys a shot of the Zire and if I went
and set it for my needs with Teal OS as the launcher it would confuse her.
I would also clear a lot of apps as well and have the basics on it only.
This would mean games she likes going as well. I could put them on her
Tungsten T but she really has lack of storage space as well.
I think a solution may be to swap my 71 for her T and me use that instead
or to get screen for the damaged 71 I got from a friend. I may find if I
look on eBay that a different model altogether may be cheaper than a
screen. Ah well thats for the future. Another maybe that might come to
nothing. Still have a hankering to try a PDA/phone combo and leave the 680
at home at times.
