A No Fitba Saturday

by Palmblogging @ 31.05.2008 - 01:56:01 pm

Well that the closed season now and although I'm not a football fanatic I
still feel a little deflated. God knows how you guys out there that go
every week will cope.
Nevermind there will always be plenty of speculation and rumours going
around to read in the papers.

0870 Numbers

by Palmblogging @ 31.05.2008 - 12:44:02 pm

There was a report on Radio Scotland yesterday about this and it was shocking to learn that DVLAs 0870 number made them around £3million last year. Yes they make money out of your call. Someone said there is a noto0870 website for more info. Have a Google for that and find out more.

Lovely Weather but.....

by Palmblogging @ 31.05.2008 - 11:26:01 am

I'm at work. We open weekends for selling bedding plants through out May. I
said I would do Saturdays but when its lovely weather its either busy or
quiet. This morning has been ok just over 3 hours to go. There is less wind
so even though its sunny the plants aren't drying out that quick. Its now
I'm glad of the rain we had during the week and yesterday. It would have
been a nightmare trying to water everything today between customers.

Fact of the Day

by Palmblogging @ 31.05.2008 - 09:18:01 am

Aphids

The aphid (also called plant louse, greenfly, ant cow) is any of several
species of sap-sucking, soft-bodied insects (order Homoptera) about the
size of a pinhead, with tubelike projections (cornicles) on the abdomen. It
is a serious plant pest. Aphids not only stunt plant growth, produce plant
galls, and transmit plant virus diseases but also deform leaves, buds, and
flowers. Aphids are controlled by chemical sprays and natural
enemies--e.g.., ladybird beetles, aphid lions, and lacewings.

Free Palm Apps

by Palmblogging @ 30.05.2008 - 11:32:01 am

This reminder was on PDA247

The short term benefit for Palm users

The turmoil in the Palm OS industry has created some short term benefits
for all of your Palm OS users out there. Don't forget the amount of free
games now available to you.
PDA Mill is offering all of it's titles free of charge now including
Arvale, Gamebox Classics, Solitaire and Snails. A great collection for free!
Ellams Software is also offering 16 Palm titles for free, but donations are
recommended. Jetman Jack, Super Duck 3D and Agent Z 2 hold fond memories
for me and are well worth a look.
Head on over to LoftCat and you can grab the wonderful Top of the League
and Space Driller. Two brilliant games which are a steal for nothing.
Not quite free, but Deluxeware is offering some serious discounts on titles
such as Navigator ($1.95) and Table Football ($2.95). Discounts run out
tomorrow so be quick

It'll be a Slow Posting Day Today

by Palmblogging @ 30.05.2008 - 11:16:02 am

Why, cause I can't be that bothered. Had a bad morning and that was before
gwtting to work. Now its raining and we are scratching about for jobs. Why
do people insist on buying plants when its pouring with rain?

Fact of the Day

by Palmblogging @ 30.05.2008 - 08:46:02 am

Caribou

The caribou is a migrant, but only between the Arctic tundra and the
conifer (subarctic) zone to the south, and there are far northern groups of
caribou whose migrations are more restricted. They do migrate in the spring
to the calving grounds. In mid-summer the harassment of mosquitoes and
flies can drive the animals to windy coastal areas or old snow patches for
relief. In late August or early September the herd begins to drift toward
its winter range. Mating occurs enroute during late September and October.
Caribou that winter on the eastern Seward Peninsula are part of the Western
Arctic herd. In spring this herd migrates to calving grounds in the
northern foothills of the Brooks Range. In fall they return south in
spectacular migrations. This herd has experienced drastic fluctuations.
During a low point in the late 1800's caribou disappeared from the Seward
Peninsula. The herd then increased to about 240,000 in 1970, declined again
to 75,000, then increased to 340,000 in 1988. It is now the largest in
Alaska and part of the herd, as many as 50,000, can again be found on the
eastern Seward Peninsula in winter.

Big Brother Again

by Palmblogging @ 29.05.2008 - 11:46:02 am

I really wonder how much running is left in this old nag anymore. You would
think after last years terrible ratings there would have been a major
question at Channel 4 wether to go ahead or not this year. That's it this
will be in the papers all summer. Well that aint a bad thing if it stops
them going on about Amy Winehouse. Today the Mirror has coverage of Amy
hoovering of all things. So come then Big Brother get started.

Stuff in the Mirror today about past winners. BB4 winner Cameron Stout is
pictured. This got me wondering, has he lost his cherry yet? Anyone know?

Seen this on one of my RSS feeds. Just imagine if they mix Scotland up with
Engerland tomorrow.

Czechs apologize for confusing Latvia, Lithuania

The Latvian flag was in the game program along with a photo of the Latvian
national soccer team. Before the match, Czech organizers played Latvia's
national anthem. However, the Czech Republic was facing Lithuania on
Tuesday night, not Latvia.

Squirrel Hunting UK

by Palmblogging @ 29.05.2008 - 08:34:01 am

I would hate to go into any eatery in Cumbria and ask for the dish of the
day. Then again if it was good enough for Elvis as a boy.......

Touchscren PC

by Palmblogging @ 28.05.2008 - 11:36:00 am

From BBC Technology pages

Microsoft's next operating system (OS) will come with multi-touch features
as an alternative to the mouse.

It is hoped the successor will have a better reception than the
much-maligned Vista OS, released last year.

Scheduled for release in 2009 the new fingertip interface lets users
enlarge and shrink photos, trace routes on maps, paint pictures or play the
piano.

The guy that fixes our washing machine had a Panasonic Toughbook laptop
that had a touchscreen and it was years old. After having Palm OS devices I
was always tapping at my laptop screen to do stuff. The Nintendo DS has
been a gaming phenomina. So why has it taken Microsoft so long to catch on
to this?

Rain

by Palmblogging @ 28.05.2008 - 11:18:02 am

At least we don't have to water outside to day and everything is greening
up lovely. All the plants look clean and fresh. Every cloud has a silver
linning and all that.

Haircut

by Palmblogging @ 28.05.2008 - 11:18:02 am

For the first time in a year scissors came in contact with my hair. Unlike
the last time Debs didn't leave the kitchen so it was just a trim. I have
always wanted long hair but never grew it til I turned 40. It could be a
mid life thing or I'm now older and don't really give a monkeys what others
think. I like it and Debs like so that all that counts. I haven't bothered
posting before and after photos though as I don't want to scare you all.

Tungsten T Time

by Palmblogging @ 27.05.2008 - 11:18:01 am

Last night after her shower I checked through Tegans hair for nits. None
were found but she sat like a dream watching video on her T. It was a bit
jerky until I enabled the software that increases the dynamic heap on it
and then it was smooth as can be.
I can remember the name of the app just now but it was freeware and works
on T, T2 and Zire 71.

Zire31

by Palmblogging @ 27.05.2008 - 11:18:01 am

Paige was on a school trip at the end of last week and she took her Zire 31
for some sounds as she had a bit of travelling to the place they were
visiting. Anyway a few of the others wondered what she had so she showed
them the mp3 player Pocket Tunes, some games such as Bejewelled and Crazy
Daisy and The Simpsons Movie on TCPMP.
Now the 31 is a low-res device and not as capable of playing video as well
as my 680 or Bens Tungsten E2 but the others were impressed by it. I know I
got Paige a device to suit her needs but it would have been good for her to
show of a Palm with a higher spec. Next time Ben has agreed to let her use
his to show off video but Paige likes her music so she says she will stick
with her Zire 31

Fact Of The Day

by Palmblogging @ 27.05.2008 - 08:56:01 am

Catnip

Catnip has been used as a seasoning and as a medicinal tea for colds and
fever. Because its mintlike flavor and aroma are particularly exciting to
cats, it is often used as a stuffing for cat playthings. It is probably not
a good idea for anyone to actually "eat" it, though.

Get yourself over to www.loftcat.org.uk and get a copy of the football

played a season or two. It very reminescent of the old DOS games of this

Magic

by Palmblogging @ 26.05.2008 - 05:56:01 pm

One of the best music stations in the UK is now on DAB radio. Magic is
broadcasting on the Score Multiplex here in North Fife, that's the
Dundee/Perth coverage area. We have listened to it on Freeview and there is
hardly a bad song. But I'm in my 40s so what does that say. I don't know if
this is a trial or permenant thing but Debs has enjoyed it all day. You can
excuse the London centric traffic and news its the music that counts.

post just arrived that were in cyberspace limbo so they may be out of order.
I was thinking of going pro with my account but it makes me wary. I will
