iPhone User Impressed by Palm Shocker

by Palmblogging @ 31.03.2008 - 07:58:02 pm

At work today one of the guys who happens to have an iPhone was seen
bug-eyed and open mouthed. The reason for this reaction. Well he was
sitting watching Teagn playing Sonic the Hedgehog on a rather ageing Palm
Tungsten T. Sonic was on a MMC card that I had bought from Expansys a few
years ago. Yes I thought you can't do that with your iPhone just now.

At Work

by Palmblogging @ 31.03.2008 - 11:28:01 am

Debs and Tegan have came to work today as the schools are of. Yes Teg's
Tungsten T has came along as well. She has been on Cbeebies website and
played games and watched pogrmmes as well. But lunchtime and she's on the
T. She loves her Palm.

Nokia

by Palmblogging @ 30.03.2008 - 10:34:01 pm

No joy yet on a couple I was bidding on and can't believe one went for over £20. I will keep trying though one with no charger or battery will do as I could use the ones from my 3510i. If only rhat had had IR. I wish I had a look around when I bought that one and got something better then. Saying that I could have connected the Zire 71 to it and not bothered getting my Treo 600. So I'm glad I didn't and got into Treos.

Nokia 8210

by Palmblogging @ 30.03.2008 - 01:54:01 am

Had a look around the web for info on connecting the Visor Deluxe and Revo
to the net and this Nokia cropped up a few time so been on Ebay to try and
get one hopefully for just a few pounds. I had an email from Murray at
Palm Mac and he has had no joy in connecting the Revo so it seems a bit of
a challenge to do this. When it was out Psion marketed it as "the connected
device" so if it was possible in 2000 it should be possible now. I think it
will be a case of using year 2000 technology though, but did we have GPRS
back then?

Ben Birthday

by Palmblogging @ 29.03.2008 - 09:12:01 am

It was my sons birthday last weekend so with him up this weekend its
basically birthday number 2. He will get his cards later nd hopefully the
thing I had ordered for him will arrive as well if not he will have to
wait. Its nothing Palm related but I know he will like it. Just hope it
here though as I am looking forward to playing with my myself.

Sore Grumpy and Tired

by Palmblogging @ 29.03.2008 - 09:12:01 am

Yes that how I feel and its only 9am. God knows how the rest of the day
will go. Been awake since 7.00 as I forgot to switch of the alarm clock.
Tegan didn't get to sleep til near 11.00pm last night but woke her usual
time. Damn we have to change the clocks in the UK tonight so that's another
hour less.

Ebay Photo Rip Of

by Palmblogging @ 28.03.2008 - 01:22:02 pm

I as publisher of this blog is a bit miffed that someone has been a bit
naughty regarding the use of an image of my Revo that is on this site. They
may have found it in Google image search and said that'll do me. I don't
have a problem if people ask or even if its for an other site but I feel
its a bit misleading for selling on Ebay. You always wonder if someone uses
a manufacturers stock photo at why the seller has no photo of their own. So
by useing my photo it looks like that is the item available. When it aint.
So the bidder is actually bidding on my Revo in the picture not the one the
seller has. I'm flatered in a way but even more wary of what you think your
buying on Ebay based on a picture isn't so.

Old Ir Nokia Search

by Palmblogging @ 28.03.2008 - 12:08:01 pm

I have started to have a look on Ebay for an old Nokia phone that will take
an Orange sim that handles data as part of my retro PDA thing. I hope to
use it for my Revo and Visor Deluxe. I have seen a few that have worked for
others on a few site so have narrowed down the models there has been
success with. Currently I am watching a 8210. If anyone has an old Nokia
with infra red they don't use on the other hand let me know and I can take
it of your hands. Just think of it as recycling.

Documents On The Go

by Palmblogging @ 28.03.2008 - 10:46:01 am

My 680 came with Docs to Go on it I apart from a few speadsheets with our
sowing dates for bedding I haven't used it much. Yesterday however I email
an application form to myself from the works computor and have been able to
fill it in on and off thro the day. This saved the hassle of sitting and
doing it in a oner and stopped that boredom setting in. It allowed me to
stay fresh and hopefully that will show in my replies.

Map/Route Software

by Palmblogging @ 27.03.2008 - 11:44:02 pm

I have been travelling to get my other two from Alva for ages now. I leave
work at Kirkcaldy and head of what I think is the most direct and quickest
route. I have never even considered an other. When I got the GPS for my
Visor the software included Route 2000 by Palmtop (now better known as
Tom-Tom). It gave me a diferent rout from Dunfermline to my destination. I
thought I was running a bit late so ignored it.
So tonight I was playing with the Visor entering my work as the departure
point and my destination. I got 3 routes all different to mine. I thought
ok I will try Google maps and you've guessed it another totally different
route. So tomorrow I will try Multimap and see if I can find another
different route. I see from the stats for each route that the short ones
are slower and the quick ones longer just because the road is faster or
whatever. There is a balance between mileage, fuel useage and time but who
knows what one to take.

Palm-Mac Revo Stuff

Photo_110207_001

Take a look over at Palm-Mac at

http://palmmac.typepad.com/palmmac/2008/03/mobile-things-h.html

Murray has got to grips with possibly the best PDA of its time. It would

take a lot to beat it back in 2000. Yes this is someone with some of the

newest PDA/ Phone devices around get use out of an old device.

Now what use to be at the top of this blog before the stuff stuff appeared.

Yup they may be old but they still do the job they were made for.

by Palmblogging @ 26.03.2008 - 03:00:02 pm

The kids at the school display did a load of Scottish Country dance this
afternoon along with some Burns Federation poetry. Its great they do this
in our schools in Scotland. Make you proud to be a Scots Parent.

School Stuff

by Palmblogging @ 26.03.2008 - 11:06:01 am

Of work this pm to go to a display the school put on showing all the dance,
singing and Burns Poetry the kids have been doing. Looking forward to it.
Will see if I can do photos and video with 680 for Tegan later.

Snow Again

by Palmblogging @ 25.03.2008 - 11:04:01 am

In Dundee today and on the drive over and while out for a smoke its
snowing. Just glad its not lying as that's been snow on and of since
Friday. Some roads up North have been closed over the weekend. Some folk
from that way at the course have said it was bad. Hell its no the last week
of March

Easter Monday Afternoon Snow

by Palmblogging @ 24.03.2008 - 02:22:01 pm

Yup had a washing out all morning and had to pull it in cause of heavy
snow. This weather is mad even though Easter is early. Its usually Easter
that folk start pestering us at work for bedding plants. Hope they aint
that thick this year.

Traffic for Palm OS

by Palmblogging @ 24.03.2008 - 10:48:01 am

Tegan was playing on the Nintendo DS today and the minigame she was playing
reminded me of an old freeware favourit of mine when I first got my Visor.
The game was Traffic. I had a look at FreewarePalm.mobi at
http://palmfreeware.mobi/ and there it was. I downloaded it to the 680 and
unzipped with HandZipper lite. Yet again in retro heaven. I beamed it to
Tegan's Tungsten T and got a surprise as it was in colour as for some
reason the colour didn't work on the 680. Tegan has sussed this game out
and has got to level 15 with a wee bit help.
This about sums up a good game, no fancy graphics but simple addictive
gameplay

Zire 71 with 680 Connection

by Palmblogging @ 23.03.2008 - 01:18:01 pm

p210359b3c0_big

I tried the 71 with the 680 for email and Xiino and no joy. I don't know if

I have mucked up the setting but it looks like a 680 Wireless Modem

problem. I will put Phonelink back on and see if I can sort it out but a

phone from Ebay that can work with Revo, Visor and 71 could be in order. I

know I don't have to do this as I have a 680 but it would be nice to try.

Visor Online

by Palmblogging @ 23.03.2008 - 12:30:02 pm

p3d1992bddd_big

I was having a wee surf to get a heads up on getting the Visor Deluxe

online. It is sending data to and from the 680 with Wireless Modem but I am

getting a few error things coming up. So I will have to google a bit more.

I really think it could be the 680 as the 600 let more happen. I will have

to check that the Zire 71 works this way as it has sent email on the 600

and 680 with Wireless Modem. This software is old and not 680 tested so

that may be the problem. I will have to read the stuff I have seen

regarding the Revo and Visor going online and find if the is an IR enabled

phone common to both sets of instructions. If so its of to Ebay to try and

get one.

Loads of Eggs

by Palmblogging @ 23.03.2008 - 12:22:01 pm

Tegan has 6 chocolate eggs so far today. I just hope she needs a help
eating them. So much for the healthy eating brigade today. Bet some poor
kid somewhere has got an Easter turnip or cabbage. Hell they will still
roll.

Hammy RIP

by Palmblogging @ 23.03.2008 - 10:52:01 am

Our hamster Hammy passed away yesterday at some point. I had a look at his
cage last night and there was no movement from him. On looking in his bed
he was still. We have had him a fcouple of years and he was fully grown
when we got him so I think he was a good age.
This little devil bit me within a day of getting him meaning a tetanus,
stiff course of antibiotics and a swollen thumb for me. He will be sorely
missed especially by Tegan.

Easter

by Palmblogging @ 22.03.2008 - 03:54:01 pm

A lot of people will be celebrating Easter this weekend and it apt that its
is so close to the Spring Equinox. Just like Christmas being midwinter,
this is another Pagan festival that was either hijacked or replaced by a
Christian one. Pagan thoughts at this time of the year tunr to Mother
Earths rebirth after the "death" of winter and so Christians celebrate
resurrection to life after death. Both are very compatible with each other.
My kids will get eggs tomorrow like many others but our more Pagan/natural
beliefs allow us to think of the new growing season ahead and look forward
to long days and leaves on trees.
Happy Easter and Happy Eqinox to all

Boot Sale

by Palmblogging @ 22.03.2008 - 01:32:01 pm

At Kinross carboot sale this morning and happened on a Palm M105 boxed. I
didn't ask the price as it would just be a temptation. I should have as it
may have had a version of Docs To Go that would have worked on the Visor.
This would have been handy with the Fellows Pocket Keyboard. I will have to
trackdown that copy of Wordsmith that I had.

Handspring Visor Stuff

by Palmblogging @ 21.03.2008 - 11:42:01 pm

I decided to restore my Visor Deluxe to it former state before I got my GPS module for it. I had hard re-set it before installing the mapping and GPS software to safeguard against any possible conflicts on an untested piece of hardware. Everything went well so I thought I would load some software back on. I hard set the Visor and restored the old hotsync name it had. Yes everyt
