Palm Foleo
My Thought on New Palm Product
What can I say I still have to have a look on a PC to see what this is but
for diehard Palmers aint it great to have all the pre-announcement
speculation and anticipation about a new thing. Pda essentials used to have
new Palm os devices every month between Palm, Handspring and Sony but alas
recently the odd Treo and nothing else. So it is great to see new a product.
When the Lifedrive came out it was lust with its spec but problems had to
be resolved same with the Treo 680 and its battery drain stuff. So let's
hope this is no false dawn but the Indian summer of Palms life.
More on New Palm Product
More details about the New Palm Product
According to Brighthand:
The Folio apparently won't have cellular-wireless access itself, but can be
synchronized with a smartphone, presumably a Treo.
The Folio will give users access to much of the same information as is on
their Treo, but will let users work with it on a larger screen and keyboard.
As expected, this device will run a version of the Linux operating system,
and will be open to third party software. It will apparently come bundled
with the Opera web browser and a version of DataViz's Documents To Go,
allowing users to work with Microsoft Office documents.

Vsmile Pocket
My 5 year old Tegan got this from Santa, Christmas past and I thought I would post my thoughts on it to share with others.
This games/education system is available at Argos for just under £60 and may be cheaper elsewhere. It uses the same cartridges as the V-smile consol, even the art studio works. Our daughter is always on about an old PS-one we have but this is far more suited to her age. This goes for both the consol and pocket.
Anyone thinking of introducing a child to video gaming should give this a try.

SD Card woes
At the weekend I had put some software on an SD card for putting on my Treo
at home. I forgot wether it was on my spare card 64 mb that I carry about
or my 128 mb card that Treo has. Anyway I thought it was Treos card and
stuck it in the card reader. I went to open one of the folders and got a
corruption message.
Yes yet again I had buggered up my card again. This has been something I
have done previously with a 1 gig card so it wasn't a great worry.
I was able to recover apps I had in Power Run and Flyzip but not them all.
The one I couldn't were on my spare 64mb card so the was very little
missing.
I keep hankering after a 1 gig card for the Treo but this just puts me of.
So 2 things I will have to back up my cards as well as my device and use
something like Card Export to read my SD cards.
WOW!!!!!!
Well finally my posts arrive. I had a few emails in German about failures
but the stuff I posted is here. At some point I will have to delete the
duplicate posts.
Anyone had this problem with mail2blogs since last week.
Palm Coverage
I have been waiting in a hospital for half an hour and had a look through
May 2007s T3 magazine. could I find one metion of Palms, could I heck.
Everyone was on about the demise of Palm and hear is proff of why. There is
a serious lack of marketimg in the UK. The TV adverts you see are all Motos
Nokias or Sony Ericssons but Treos are capable of all the function of these
phones.
It really makes my blood boil at times. You I am the only person I see with
a Treo but often find people watching amazed at what I do with it.
So go on Palm pulicise the Treo range somehow here in Britain.
Palm Memo
I had a couple of meetings in the morning at a hospital then at a school
regarding my kids. I knew that my other half Debs would need a rundown on
what happened and me as a typical man hasn't a long memory.
So after each meeting I typed out the main points in Memo on my Treo and
that was it saved. I know there are whistle and bell replacement for this
app but it does the job for me.

Fed up with Mail2blog
Im getting really fed up with not be able to post when mail2blog plays up.Any ideaa why it fails folks
Oh its early
I woke coughing this morning before 6.00am and heard the cat meowing
outside so got up. Its very bright and sunny but chilly. I got a load of
towels on the line and a load in the machine on and washing. Not very
palmish but here I am posting on Palmblogging.
At the weekend on Sunday 4 of the kids had a Palmathon playing an Astraware
game that has lain on my 71 for years, that game is Insaniquarium. You feed
fish, shoot aliens, collect coins or diamond or whatever to gain cash. This
cash allows you to buy tank friends that make the job easier tackling the
stuff you do in the tank. It is fun but a bit strange. The boys completed
it in quest mode. This went on for a couple of hours. Devices used were E2,
Z71, M130 and Treo 600. I had to cheat the hotsync on them to allow all the
kids to play the game but I already had the registration so that's not bad.
Palm Usage
Well I have not posted about my Palm usage for a while. My other half still
is addicted to Pyramid solitaire and that's the M130s main use. So
that's easily covered.
My Zire 71 is mainly ebook reading at night.
my Treo as its my phone is my main Palm. I still have the urge to get a 1
or 2 gig Sd card for it. There is a bit of music that I have that would be
great to have for in the car but this means getting a headphone adapter for
Treo as well. It would allow me to carry about more Sky at Nightss
converted from the magazines cover disk. I don't think I would install many
apps with this as I don't use that many on Treo anyway.
One app I do use daily is mRSS this is an excellent RSS feed reader and
allows me to keep up to date with Palm-Mac, Palm Addicts, Digital Spy Media
and a couple of BBC feeds. Its ony drawback, that may be my stupidity or a
Palm OS failing, is that clink on a RSS feed on a site doesn't add the
feed. If that worked I would probably subscribe to more feeds. I always was
looking for a RSS reader for my Nokia I had so I suppose I shouldn't
complain.

Vibrator 'threat to national security'

Vibrator 'threat to national security'
A British made radio-controlled vibrator has been banned in Cyprus after it
was branded a threat to national security.
The Cypriot military are concerned the sex toy's electronic waves will
disrupt the army's radio frequencies on the island.
A spokesman for makers Ann Summers confirmed its Love Bug 2, a small, egg
shaped device operated by a remote control, was on sale for use everywhere
in Europe - except Cyprus.
The Ann Summers spokesman said: "The remote control only has a range of six
metres. We have still been selling them in Cyprus, but with a warning
urging Cypriots not to use it unless they travel abroad."
In its promotional literature the company describes the device as a
"deceptively powerful matt silver love egg", later adding: "Not for use in
Cyprus".
Military officials refused to comment on the reasons for the ban, but the
government's Communications and Works Ministry said it had been a purely
military decision.
A spokesman said: "We never even saw them, they were banned before we even
had a chance to check them, but if issues of national security are at stake
then that is not surprising.
"The military does operate on a different frequency to the general
frequency, but they do not share that information for obvious reasons, only
they would have been able to decide what SRD's (Small Range Devices) might
be a threat and what to do about it."
Lizzie Eddleston from the Ann Summers press office in the UK said: "It is a
shame but we have to honour the request and have made it clear that the
Love Bug is not for sale in Cyprus.
"We have been told the electronic waves given off by the 'Love Bug' would
affect military frequencies, but we have told locals that we have a lot of
other devices that are not banned which will satisfy their needs. After
all, it's better to make love, not war.
Random Thoughts
So much for my at least one post a day post from last month.
Still no outcome for who will run Scotland.
Thanks to Murray at Palm-Mac for the mention on the site he likes to read.
Why is Google mobile blocking site such as Prodigits and how the hell do I
get round this on my Treo.
Thank goodness rain at last.
Do ellephants never forget?
Irony
Easily defined tonight. I am in the garden and listening to our neighbours
argueing. The music coming from there house is that Cher and Neneh Cherry
song Love can build a Bridge followed by Crying, or Cwying in Fools and
Horses now its Dr.Hook. I think that's irony in action
Scottish Election
The SNP won 47, Labour came in second with 46; the Conservatives have 17;
the Liberal Democrats secured 16; and others came in with three. Wow bit of
a change there. I used to think Salmond a smug little man but he has a
reason now.
Phone Calculators
Funny most mobiles have a built in calculator but how many of you end up
trying to add up in your head with a phone in your pocket. All Palms have
one with advanced options on Handsprings. I was always dissppointed with
Zire 71's compared to the Visor Deluxe even though the 71 is a far superior
device.
So remember when doing some counting that you have a mobile somewhere.
KirkcaldyBedding Plant Sales
Any of you bloggers out there from the Kirkcaldy area look in to a garden
project I know of called Evergreen. Its in Barnet Crescent not a distance
from Starks Park, home of the mighty Raith. The produce excellent bedding
plants at really good prices for the quality. Its a training centre run by
SAMH and needs some support. So leave B&Q and go to Evergreen.
