Other Palms in our house

by Palmblogging @ 31.12.2006 - 05:14:01 pm

I post earlier about my Palm devices so now the others.
Our youngest son has a Tungsten E that is greatly underused. I think I will have to get some ebooks on it for him nd check what games he has. He got a laptop at christmas so once an office suite is on it he may use it more for homework. I will have to get him a bigger card for music and possible video as it has a DVD drive. This will be a work in progress
Oldest boy well he stays up half the night playing on it. I still have to get the E2 to connect on O2 network though but I need him, the Palm and his phone in one place long enough.
That leave the godfather of all this palmyness, the Handspring Visor Deluxe. This was my first PDA with Palm os now 5 years old but still used daily by my other half. It is only 4 shades of gray, only 8 meg memory with no card slot and has a now puny Dragonball processor but used daily . How? I have put on a few games that don,t need better for graphic and the main use is that it has a TV remote control programme called Omniremote. This get used for our bedroom digital box as the original I about dead.
All of the Palms we have can be bought on the likes of Ebay for a frction of their original price. My Treo when new without contrat would have been around £400 but I got it for £67 so have a look.

Moving Flat

by Palmblogging @ 31.12.2006 - 04:36:01 pm

What an afternoon my partners daughter is moving flats and the decorating is getting done but a one bed flat with7 adults and a 5 year old was pushing it. At one point 4 people were building a bed. But yet again the wee one was diverted by the games on my Treo. Our oldest boy lays carpet so that was going down and it came out he was playing on his E2 until at least 2.30 this morning.
Looks like his Christmas pressies were spot on

I wouldn't do it with a Phone

by Palmblogging @ 31.12.2006 - 12:04:02 pm

I was on my way to get brake pad for my car. Could I rememer the model? NO so I had a look and noted it in Memopad on Treo. I know you can do notes on a non smartphone but I never did that on my Nokia

Palm usage

by Palmblogging @ 31.12.2006 - 10:50:01 am

So what are all this Palm os devices in our house hold used for.
Treo 600: I use this every day as a phone suprisingly enough. I upgraded from a Nokia 3510i that stopped displaying web pages thro Google mobile portal. I use a phone mainly for wap/web viewing and texts with very few voice calls. The Treo is great for both with its qwerty thumbpad and large screen. I have Versamail on it handling email from an orange.net account as this use pop thingy. Other software is the pick from what I used on the Zire.

Zire71: This has most use at night as as Ebook reader with Isilo, ereader and Mobibook on it covering most Ebook format except MSreaders .lit. I have read a lot of copyright free books suchs HG Wellsand Jules Verne. Of the games on Zire I mainly play Text Twist and Bejewelled just now but others do get play less frequently.
I will post later about the Handsprings use and the Tungstens

Outside Christmas stuff

by Palmblogging @ 30.12.2006 - 03:30:01 pm

Well that's me getting our outside display up the loft. Why I hear you gasp Two words Hogmany and drink. We have always taken them in around now to save someone from raindeer or santa abuse. Since we are the only house in our street if I was out and drunk I'd find it a temptation

Time Stamp

by Palmblogging @ 30.12.2006 - 01:36:02 pm

please take 4 hours of the time I have only used my treo so far and try as I might I still get this 4 hour difference. I am in the UK but get this any ideas short of getting on a PC.

Memory Cards

by Palmblogging @ 30.12.2006 - 09:22:01 am

So the Treo 128 mer card thing what's that about. Well I had some free virus software for the laptop that I had used the broadband connection at work to download. I carry a SD card with me for stuff like that but it was not big enough so I used the card in the Treo. So last night I went to put it on, stuck card in reader slot and it seemed nothing a happening so disconnected usb lead put it in and lights flaashed, it was reading. I went to copy folder but no go. Ok its a windows thing I thought andput card in Treo.
The fun the began card start up error and the looping resets. So in the end Treo got hard reset and card formatted as everything I tried failed. So now to put progs back on.
So lessons learnt
1 Be more patient with card and reader
2 Backup Treo to PC and card more often
AND
3 Backup damn SD cards

Palms in our house

by Palmblogging @ 30.12.2006 - 07:42:01 am

Me I use Treo 600 and Zire 71
My partner Debbie uses an old Handspring Visor Deluxe I want a newer colour screen one, possibly a M130 but she says no see what Ebay says
Carl 14 has an under used TungstenE
Ricki 17 has a E2 that he got for Christmas and plays with a lot games and bluetooth to his Motorola V3. Anyone got this to work on internet with O2.

So we're all Palmed up using a range of older palms.

by Palmblogging @ 29.12.2006 - 10:12:23 am

I have used Palms for 5 years and none of my PDAs are current. So this is for old Palm users. I have Treo 600 Zire 71 and a Visor Deluxe.
